DMCC Act: CMA consults on updates to merger guidance

This week the CMA published a consultation on draft updates to six of its merger guidance documents. These largely reflect the significant changes introduced by the DMCC Act which are expected to be brought into force later this year. Our earlier guide to the new merger rules summarises these changes as part of our Spotlight on the DMCC Act. As part of the CMA's consultation it has provided a mark-up of its quick guide to UK merger assessment which also provides a handy summary of the main substantive changes.

The consultation also relates to updates on the rules of procedure for merger, market and special reference groups, as well as interim measures in merger investigations. These changes are intended to bring the guidance documents in line with the CMA's current practice in these areas.

The CMA is consulting on a package of 6 draft updated mergers guidance documents. The 6 draft guidance documents have been updated to reflect current practice, and the jurisdictional and procedural changes introduced by the Digital Markets Competition and Consumer Act on the mergers regime.
