The European Parliament and the Council of Ministers signed the proposed amendments to the Brussels I Regulation into law on 15 May 2014. The amendments update EU rules on the jurisdiction of courts and recognition of judgments to take into account the Unified Patent Court (UPC). The amendments are set out in a Regulation (here) amending the Brussels I Regulation. Although the Regulation will enter into force on the day following its publication in the Official Journal, which is expected to be next month, it will not apply until 10 January 2015.
