Raconteur has been looking at what SMEs can do to kickstart their digital transformation, and overcome their fear of the process.
From a legal perspective, the important thing for SMEs to remember is that if you “click through” to agree a contract as a business, you are not protected in the same way that a consumer is when they agree an online contract.
SMEs should take time to review the contract and make sure they can get out of a contract that is not working.
An SME actively engaged in a digital transformation project should also consider:
- if and how the different digital tools they are thinking of using work together
- how they will keep them all up to date and working together in the future
- when engaging a specialist to assist with this kind of project, ensure that they
- officially take on responsibility to deliver a working solution
- give the SME ownership rights (or at least the right to use on an ongoing basis) in anything they create that the company is paying for.
